GBCORP Announces completion of its summer internship program

Manama, Bahrain, August 26th, 2008:
GBCORP, the Bahrain-based Islamic investment bank announces the completion of its summer internship program to develop the prospective banking executives of the future.

As of the 1st of July, a number of trainees were selected to be part of GBCORP’s first internship program and were selected from a number of respected universities from around the world including:

  • The University of Bahrain
  • The American University of Sharjah
  • The University of Wales
  • The New York Institute of Technology

Each trainee is rotated in various departments for a week or more depending on the period of their required internship which can vary from two weeks to two months.

The internship program provides trainees with invaluable experience when considering a career in the financial services industry while also providing opportunities for college students to map out their career paths by gaining hands-on experience, skills and knowledge.

GBCORP’s internship allows trainees the opportunity to develop not only industry exposure but also to learn and develop new skills. During the program trainees will learn what it's really like to work in the financial services industry; gaining a unique insight and understanding that couldn't be achieved by research alone. They will learn how companies are positioned in the industry, who the big players are, as well as the latest trends and industry forecasts; knowledge which will be essential in demonstrating their commitment to a career in banking.

Commenting on the Program Mr. Nabeel Rabea, Head of GBCORP’s HR Department said:
“GBCORP’s internship program provides first-hand experience of a career in a truly global financial institution and allows the trainee the opportunity to deliver real value by working alongside experienced professionals on important deals and projects. In today's competitive marketplace, as recruiters, we are not just looking for academic prowess, but also for relevant experience and the ability to adapt to challenging situations. I have been very impressed with the standard and quality of applicants to this year’s program and I look forward to helping our new trainees to develop and hone their financial skills.”
