Manama, Bahrain, September 2011: Global Banking Corporation B.S.C (c) (GBCORP) participated in the MENA Private Equity Business Summit held in Dubai from 11 to 13 September, 2011. The Summit, held in association with CNBC Arabiya, provided an in-depth coverage of the latest regional developments and growth opportunities within the private equity industry with focus on value creation, identifying investment opportunities and building business confidence.
Mr. Oscar Silva, CEO of Global Banking Corporation, was one among expert speakers including CEOs and senior executives attending the Summit. Mr. Silva also was the Chairman of two discussion panels dealing with private equity general developments and family businesses in the Gulf.
CNBC Arabia also carried an interview with Mr. Silva. The televised discussion addressed a number of topics including the current state of the financial markets, investors’ concerns on global political and economic stability, the GCC investors’ perspectives and the role of emerging markets team in investors’ portfolios and in the current transfer of wealth from industrialized economies. Mr. Silva summarized his participation as follows: “The private equity industry in the region is going through a very challenging period giving the global economic environment and regional political developments. Nevertheless, we at GBCORP remain optimistic on investment opportunities in the region and emerging markets as a whole.”
