Global Banking Corporation BSC(C)  Board of Directors is ultimately responsible for providing strategic leadership, direction and monitoring business strategy, risk management, internal control environment and transparent corporate governance guidelines\framework. In addition to the above, the Board of Directors is also responsible for the preparation of financial statements including full compliance with all applicable accounting and regulatory requirements. The Board of Directors has delegated certain responsibilities to Board Sub-Committees in line with corporate governance standards of the Central Bank Of Bahrain (CBB). Decision making at the Board of Directors' level is based on financial information and investment updates presented by the management periodically. The Bank's strategic vision and financial performance are closely monitored by the Board of Directors in line with business strategy and approved budgets. The Board of Directors is also overseeing the implementation of the Bank's corporate governance guidelines\framework in compliance with the CBB's High Level Control Module as well as the Code of Corporate Governance.

Hisham Ahmed Al Rayes

Hisham Ahmed Al Rayes is the Chairman of GBCORP and the Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors of GFH Financial Group (‘GFH’), a dynamic financial group headquartered in the Kingdom of Bahrain. GFH currently has more than US$10 billion of assets under management as part of its activities which comprise wealth management, real estate, commercial banking and asset management services.

In addition, Hisham also serves as Chairman of Esterad Investments, and he is a Director on a number of financial, industrial and real estate company Boards including Khaleeji Commercial Bank, Balexco, Gulf Holding Company, Falcon Cement and GFH Capital.

Hisham holds a Master’s degree with honors in Business Administration from the University of DePaul, Chicago (USA), and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with honors from the University of Bahrain.

Isa Abdulla Zainal  

Retired qualified accountant currently acting as an advisor to Arcapita Group and an independent board member of few companies within and outside the group. Prior to retirement, Isa was with Arcapita from 2003 - 2016 as executive director global head of financial control. Isa was with Al Baraka Banking Group from 2000-2003 as CFO and prior to that with Andersen in Bahrain for 15 years. Isa has a BS with honors in Accounting from the University of Bahrain 1985 and is a Certified Public Accountant from Georgia, USA 1991.

Eyad Yousuf Sater

Mr. Eyad has a Master degree in Business Administration from the University of Glamorgan, United Kingdom. He is currently Board Member of following:

1. AFAQ Institute of Aviation Technology
2. Eazy Financial Services

He retired in May 2016 after gaining 33 years of experience in banking (1983 to 2016). Prior to retirement, Mr. Eyad was with Al Salam Bank as group COO. Before that, he was with BMI Bank as acting CEO (before merger). Prior to that he was mainly with National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) in the roles of Head of Operations, Head of Riyadh Branch and Head of Abu Dhabi Branch. During his role with BMI and ASBB, he was member of following committees:

1. Asset – Liability Committee (ALCO)
2. Risk Committee
3. Executive Management Committee
4. IT Committee
5. Operations Committee
6. Investment Committee

Naif Saud Al Tareri

Mr. Al-Tareri brings almost two decades of experience in banking, financial institutions and family business companies and he gained the capability, knowledge and skills over the years to assure executing and accomplishing the business plans.
He acquired his bachelor degree in the field of Administration and Finance from King Saud University in 2001.
Mr. Al-Tareri held various positions in the banking sector, before he Joined National Amlak Investment in 2007. His qualification, hardworking and continuous passion embodied to serve as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
As the Managing Director & CEO, Mr. Al-Tareri has been Leading the company to profitability and contributed significantly in enhancing the investment portfolio of the company by restructuring and diversify the portfolio in engaging into new investments in multiple sectors and played major role in merging and acquisition Transactions.
He was always the key person in building consensus among diverse individuals which contributed in the business in the executive committees, and applies qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment for progress to strategic governance efforts.
During the last years Mr. Al-Tareri appointed in several important and influential positions whether as a member of board of directors or the executive committees and he currently holds board memberships in different entities as:

Mohamed Anwar Al Sada

Mr. Mohamed Al-Sada is a proficient investment manager with 12 years of experience with Soura Investment in the areas of Asset Management, International Equity, Fixed Income and Private Equity. Mr. Mohamed has a BSc. in Business Administration from the American University of Sharjah and Executive MBA from London Business School.

Razi Abdulghaffar AlMerbati

Mr. Razi Al Murbati is a Senior Executive Director at GFH Financial Group. Mr. Al Murbati brings to his role more than 15 years of experience in the banking and finance sector including a significant track record in Islamic investments and advisory. His areas of expertise include private banking and wealth management as well as private equity

Previously Mr. Al Murbati served as Head of Investment Development & Distribution for the GCC region at The First Investor in Qatar, a subsidiary of Barwa Bank. Prior to that, he was Regional Director of the Investment Advisory Group of Abu Dhabi Investment House.

Mr. Al Murbati is currently on the Board of Directors of Esterad Investment Company and the Chairman of the Audit & Risk Committee. He also is on the Board of Directors of Falcon Cement Company and member of the Audit Committee.

Salah Abdulla Sharif  

Salah Abdulla Sharif, Chief Administrative Officer of GFH Financial Group, is a key player in the strategic as well as day-to-day management of the Group’s core corporate support functions. In addition, he is responsible for ensuring that the highest standards of operational excellence are achieved for the Group’s Special Purpose Vehicles and Project companies. He also serves as a Board member in several project/operating companies that fall under the GFH Financial Group brand. An industry expert with over 30 years of international exposure and experience in both conventional and Islamic financial institutions, Salah is conversant with industry best practices in all aspects of commercial, wholesale banking, and in the industrial and infrastructure advisory sector. Prior to his current assignment, Salah was the CEO of Cemena Holding Company (CHC), an industrial subsidiary of the Group which was one of the largest cement holding companies in the MENA region. Previous to this he held a number of senior roles in leading, global financial institutions, including American Express in Bahrain and Standard Chartered Bank in Bahrain where he held various managerial and executive positions including Head of Operations. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of South Wales, U.K.

Syed Rehan Ashraf  

Mr. Ashraf is seasoned Banker and a finance professional possessing more than 24 years of experience in the areas of finance, credit, risk management, advisory, compliance and assurance services – with Islamic and conventional banks – and big four audit firms. He previously worked with Ithmaar Bank (formerly Shamil Bank), Bahrain; Deloitte & Touche; Faysal Bank, Pakistan; and PricewaterhouseCoopers. A Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan, Mr. Ashraf also holds an MBA from DePaul University of Chicago, USA. He is currently serving as the Chief Financial Officer for United Gulf Bank B.S.C (“UGB”) and United Gulf Holding Company B.S.C. (“UGH”). In his more than 15 year’s association with UGB, Mr. Ashraf has also headed the Compliance, Credit and Risk functions for UGB Group and was previously the designated CRO for the Bank.


Being an Islamic Bank, the Bank has appointed a Shari’a Supervisory Board(SSB) to direct, review and supervise the Bank’s activities, to ensure full compliance with the rules and principles of Islamic Shari’a. The Bank conducts internal Shari’a reviews which ensure that all the business activities are in compliance with Shari’a principles and applicable AAOIFI standards.

His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Osama Mohammed Bahar

Dr. Bahar is a recognized Shari’a scholar in Islamic banking and financing. He has extensive experience in the structuring of financial and Islamic products and Islamic contracts, in addition to his contributions to a number of research papers on Islamic finance and banking. Dr. Bahar is also a member of many Shari’a Supervisory Boards.
